RICH MARSHALL
Rich's family originated from the Lake District area of northern England. His family moved to the Interior of British Columbia in 1967, where he still lives. His father, Roger Marshall was a prolific Himilayan solo climber in the 1980's, and was the original drive for Rich's discovery of the mountain life.
For the past twenty years Rich has been making a living out of guiding in the Canadian Mountains as a fully certified IFMGA Mountain Guide. Leading a very diverse life in the mountains, Rich has become a high end all rounder. In the winter, climbing the Canadian Ice and mixed monsters of the frozen north has become a forte. Spending as much time as possible opening up new mixed and ice lines with the other inspiring Canadians that climb in the winter. Along with winter climbing, competition Ice/mixed climbing have also become a passion that he has excelled at. A solid Competitor, with finishes at Ouray Ice festival in Colorado that span from 1st to 3d over the past several years consistently, with several other top finishes at other competitions.
Over the past eight years Rich has spent a certain percentage of his guiding year working with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides as an examiner and course instructor, giving back to his profession by helping mentoring others. Along with Guiding in the mountains, his work in Mountain safety has also taken Rich into Adventure Race industry as a course setter and race coordinator.
Rich has also spent several years racing mountain bikes, and continues to ride both free ride and all day riding missions through unridden mountain terrain. Along with climbing both alpine and rock, ski mountaineering is also a driving passion through the Canadian winter. Whenever possible, frequent foray's to surf the oceans waves fill the off seasons. Along with climbing and skiing at a high level, product development with various sponsors is also a personal important endeavor that gives back to the industry.
