Biography
As a kid, I absolutely loved winter (I still do), playing in the snow, and New England winter storms. Growing up, I spent more and more time exploring the notches of New Hampshire and falling in love with climbing and skiing, yet seemingly always being caught in some nor’easter blowing in. Probably as a result, I studied meteorology in college and went on to study polar climate dynamics and cloud physics in grad school. I see that my love for both mountain sports and science are from these earliest experiences. Namely, these experiences catalyzed the larger questions I began to and continue to ask to understand myself and the world around me. Spending time in the mountains has given me the qualitative means to understand nature, as my research has allowed me to do so quantitatively; both as parts of the same whole. Looking around now, I feel just so thankful to take part in both the outdoors and climate research as I do now. I hope that through my work and sport, I can inspire others to ask the same sorts of questions I did as a New England kid staring upwards at the mountains and clouds in awe.
ATHLETE MENTORSHIP INITATIVE
The SCARPA Athlete Mentorship Initiative presented by Mountain Hardwear has been created to connect and engage
the SCARPA and Mountain Hardwear Athlete teams with accomplished athletes from historically marginalized
communities aspiring to take their sport or career to the next level. The mission of this program is to connect
mentors with mentees focused on the sports we serve to provide participants with opportunities for personal,
athletic and career development with the goal of helping to create a more inclusive and diverse community of
athletes.
