FAQ

What is a “defective” product? minus sign

Any product that does not meet specifications, either in materials or construction. An example would be rubber that separates from a shoe during normal use, or a stitch that starts to come apart within the normal lifespan of a shoe.

Do I need to send my product in? minus sign

All warrantied products must be returned to SCARPA. Shipping of the defective product will be at your own expense, but return shipping will be covered by us.

How long does it take to get my repaired/replacement product back? minus sign

Our average turnaround time is one week for replacements, and two weeks for repairs, plus shipping times.

How long should my running shoes last? minus sign

Many factors contribute to the lifespan of a running shoe, including frequency and duration of use, the type and thickness of the rubber, and the surfaces they are used on. Around 300 miles is a good estimate, or until the rubber is worn down or the foam has lost its cushion.

How long should my hiking boots last? minus sign

Many factors contribute to the lifespan of a hiking boot, including frequency and duration of use, the type and thickness of the rubber, and the type of surfaces they are used on. Rocks and rugged terrain can wear out boots faster, and so can moisture. Proper care can help extend the lifespan of a boot. Someone on a months-long thru-hike might wear out their boots in a single trip, while others might last for many years.

How long should my ski boots last? minus sign

Many factors contribute to the life of a ski boot, including frequency and duration of use, skier weight and height, riding style, and what type of terrain they are used on. A professional ski patroller or instructor might wear out a pair of boots in a single season, while a more casual user’s boots might last for years. It’s important to regularly inspect your ski boots, especially where they interface with your bindings. If you are unsure of what to look for, have them inspected by a professional.

How long should my climbing shoes last? minus sign

Many factors contribute to the lifespan of a climbing shoe, including frequency and duration of use, the type and thickness of the rubber, and the types of surfaces they are used on. Gyms will often have coarse, sandpaper-like walls, which will wear the rubber of your shoes down more quickly, especially if care is not taken to avoid dragging your toes on the wall while climbing. Some people might wear down the toe rubber within several weeks, while others might last for years.

What damages are not covered by warranty? minus sign

- Normal wear and tear (worn down rubber, insoles that have lost their cushion, Velcro that is no longer sticky, etc.)

- Cuts, burns, abrasions, tears, stains

- Negligent or improper use

- Damage caused by impact (including cuts from ski edges or crampons) or binding wear

- Products that have been modified or altered (including climbing shoes that have been resoled, ski boots that have been punched out by a bootfitter, etc.)

- Improper fit or sizing

- Broken or damaged laces
