Trail Running - Portugal

Andres Rodrigues

Freedom runs uphill

Andrè Rodrigues racing in the Dolomites

André Rodrigues was born in 1986 in Arganil, Portugal. His youth was marked by football, a sport he practiced for many years before changing direction. After university, at the age of 25, he started working for one of the country’s top athletics clubs, Vidigalense Youth. Trail running came almost by chance in 2012, during a trip with friends in Benasque: there he ran his first race on the trails of the Trail Aneto, and it was love at first sight.

Just a few months later, he lined up at Serra D’Arga, finishing second. From that moment on, he never stopped, winning major races and dominating national championships. Today André is a reference figure in the Portuguese trail scene:
not only a top-level athlete, but also the organizer of the Desafio Picos do Açor, an event that connects community, nature, and sport. A simple and determined man, he loves silence, solitude, and the freedom that only the mountains can give. With a degree in sports science, he is also a certified running coach: a profession that allows him to pass on his knowledge and passion when he is not racing.
