Hillary Gerardi was born on October 13, 1986, in Brattleboro, Vermont (USA), and today lives in the Chamonix Valley, France. Over the years, she and her husband moved to the Alps, driven by a shared passion for the mountains that combine both sport and work: Hillary is an international-level skyrunner, while he is training to become a mountain guide. Both are also involved with CREA, the Research Center for Alpine Ecosystems.
From a young age, she loved skiing, climbing, and mountaineering, but she only started running seriously a few years ago, discovering in trail running and skyrunning the sport that best combines endurance and technique, effort and beauty. For her, the more technical and demanding a race is, the more she loves it. Hillary thrives on ridges and rocky terrain and has competed in some of the most iconic races in the international scene, including the Trofeo Kima, Tromsø Skyrace, and Monterosa Skymarathon.
Her smile during races has become her trademark: even in moments of maximum effort, she reminds herself how lucky she is to run in the mountains, with a body that allows her to live extraordinary experiences through the sport she loves.
