Mountaineering - Norway

Kristin Harila

Beyond Every Vertical Limit

Kristin Harila on the top of the world

Originally from the Norwegian village of Vadsø, Kristin Harila was born with a passion for the outdoors. Growing up in the Arctic, far from everything, she learned from an early age that distance is not measured in kilometers but in mindset. Surrounded by stunning mountains and harsh weather, she discovered that the more remote and wild the place, the more it felt like home.

After starting out in cross-country skiing and winter sports, she found her true calling in alpinism, standing out for her determination, endurance, and vision. Since 2019, she has dedicated her life to climbing the world’s highest peaks.

In just a few years, she made history: from record ascents of Everest and Lhotse to
extreme challenges on the eight-thousanders without supplemental oxygen. In 2023, she took on the challenge of climbing all 14 eight-thousanders twice in two seasons, cementing her place among the greats of modern mountaineering. With her courage, Kristin has become a role model not just for women but for anyone who dreams of pushing beyond their limits.
